中国神话故事传说钱王射潮
在唐朝末年，有个吴越王叫做钱镏的，勇猛无比，当时一般人都称他为“钱王”。他治理杭州的时候，各种事情都感到还容易办，就是这道钱塘江的海堤修不好。因为刚刚要修好，潮水一天一夜要来两次，简直叫人没有法子能把海堤修筑起来。因此，钱王手下的人很着急，都怕钱王发脾气，只好报告钱王道：“大王，这海堤还是不修吧，总不会修好的。因为钱塘江里面有个潮神在跟我们作对，只等到我们把海堤修得差不多的时候，他就兴风作浪，把我们的海堤给冲坍了。”
錢聽了滿肚火氣、氣得胡子一根根都直竖起、眼睛瞪得象铜钤、厲聲喝道：
“你們這批沒用場的家伙！為什麼不把那個潮神拖上來給宰了？”
手下人慌忙说道：
“這不能夠，這不能夠，他是個潮神，在海水里面跟海龍王住在一起的哩！我們沒法去找他。何況他來時，是隨著潮頭翻滾，都在潮頭的海水里面；我們凡人既看不到，更沒法子捉拿他。人們就是趁著鐵打船去尋找，只要一碰到潮頭，也會給吞沒了。”
錢聽了兩眼火星直冒，大吼道：
“我怎麼能讓這小小的小小的潮神來胡作非為嗎？不行！”
錢想了一想，就說：
“好了，我自己去降伏它。我倒要見見這個 tide!”
八月十八日到了，
Money Bay’s tidal waves are always very big, the tide head is high, and the power of the water is fierce. The people who live by Money Bay are always afraid that their sea walls will be washed away. So they say: “The Yellow River builds a wall with one handful of gold every day; the Money River builds a wall with one handful of silver every day.” That means how much trouble it is to build a sea wall.
The king heard this and was very angry. He said to his servants:
“I am not going to let you all die because of this! I am going to go and fight against that Tide god myself!”
He gathered together 10,000 soldiers on August 18th.
He rode up onto a platform made out of boats in the middle of Money Bay. He looked out at the sea and waited for Tide god.
Tide god was riding on a white horse in front of him.
When he saw Tide god, King shouted: “You can either stop your tides or I will shoot you!”
So King shot an arrow at Tide God.
King’s soldiers shot arrows at Tide God too.
After shooting three million arrows, King shouted again: “Keep shooting!”
Tide God had no choice but to turn around and swim away from King’s soldiers.
From then on, there were no more tides near where King was standing. And so he built another sea wall called "Money Wall".
And so ended the story about how King defeated Tide God using only his courage and determination!
This story teaches us that even though we may feel weak or powerless sometimes,
we should never give up hope or lose faith in ourselves.
We must use our brains,
be brave,
and work hard towards our goals!
We can do anything as long as we believe in ourselves!
And now you know why they call it "Money Wall" instead of just "Wall".
