在一个偏远的村庄里，住着一位贫穷至极的农夫。他勤劳地耕作，却依然生活在贫困之中。有一天，圣彼得路过此地，他被农夫请求向上帝求助解释为何他尽管努力却仍旧贫穷。圣彼得感动于他的勤勉和正直，便给了他一副金马鞍，让他保留到下次见面时交还。然而，当圣彼得回去后，再次经过这片土地时，发现自己忘记了留下的金马鞍，并询问农夫是否还记得这件事。农夫却装出一副惊讶的样子，说自己从未收到过这样的东西。
Saint Peter, who was busy with his divine duties, decided to test the farmer's integrity. He asked the farmer for the gold bridle and saddle back, but the cunning farmer refused to give them up. Saint Peter was surprised and asked him why he didn't remember leaving them at his farm. The farmer replied that he must have left them somewhere else.
The saint was about to leave when he noticed something strange - a group of people were watching him from afar. They had all come together to witness this unusual scene. One of them stepped forward and said that they would like to buy the gold bridle and saddle from the farmer.
The price they offered was surprisingly high, so the farmer agreed to sell it to them for one hundred golden coins and a cow. However, as soon as they left his farm, he realized that he had been tricked into selling something that didn't belong to him in the first place!
